Once upon a time, one of us was a relatively skilled mountaineer. One of us was born in Cumbria and one of us was born in Nepal. So, being in the mountains came naturally to us whether that was completing all of the 214 Wainwrights in the English Lake District, rapid ascents of Alpine peaks in France or Switzerland, ice climbing in La Grave (France) or summiting somewhat larger peaks in the Himalaya. For a few years we recorded most of what we did on the website SummitPost using the pseudonym fdoctor and you can enjoy some of our adventures by visiting SummitPost and browsing our entries there.

Blog Post: I’m a mountaineer get me out of here
I wrote this article about a small expedition to the Himalayan peak, Lobuche East in 2005. I was 59 years old and extremely fit, reasonably experienced as a mountaineer, and with lots of family connections in Nepal on my wife’s side. We began the trip as a family with my wife, my daughter and husband, each returning to Kathmandu at 12,000ft and 15,000ft respectively as I continued. What transpired in the remaining 6000+ feet is hilarious to say the least and led to the title of what I wrote for SummitPost so many years ago.
