Today is New Years Day in Nepal, the month is Baisakh and the year is 2080…. I think! So today in Nepal using the Nepal Sambat it is Baisakh 1, 2080, whilst on the rest of most of the planet it’s April 14th, 2023.
If that weren’t confusing enough, there is actually MORE than one calendar in use in Nepal! For example the Sherpa people have already celebrated their New Year, Lhosar, THIS year on January 22nd. Try coordinating dates of birth, marriage and death across family lines and geographic boundaries and you’d go insane!

Anyway, Happy New Year to all our family, friends and ex colleagues in Nepal, and ……… go steady on the Rakshi, Ela and Tunbha ……. whatever your ethnic choice of tipple! 🕉

About 30 years ago I use to catalog old shipping records to North America for the Genealogy Society. So yes I can understand how confusing that would be to catalog. Depending on which time line is recorded, it could look like a Grandparent being 5 years younger than their grand child. It would look as if that family lived through a time paradox.
Happy New Year

That’s exactly what happened when I was trying to look at my wife’s ancestry! We’ve been married for 50 years and her d.o.b is still incorrect on many official documents here in England 🤦♂️
