Walking around the local woods yesterday I saw my first Yellowhammer of the year, a sure sign that Spring is almost here. But …..

“A flash of yellow
The Two Doctors
chirps and hops from twig to twig
gathering insects
white hawthorn blossom trembles
where’s the antihistamine”
Unfortunately for me, it also revealed blossoming hawthorn which means several weeks of hell as my allergy keeps me away from these woods for a while! I hate Spring!

Antihistamines! Oh my God, I still shudder to think of the side effects of the drugs in the early 1970s when you staggered through world history for weeks in a state of somnambulation. Then summer came, the sea, the high mountains or the desert and you could breathe deeply again. Fortunately, I was spared the allergy to the histamines in red wine. 😉

So sad. I hope you find some relief.

I love yellowhammer birds! And I can totally relate to your hate of spring. Allergy season! Relentless. All these beautiful blossoms mark the end of peace for many nostrils! I can only hope that the wee yellowhammers don’t suffer from hay fever…

Allergies are a bummer! Time to self-medicate with wine, perhaps????

I usually do and it works! But that’s probably because I stay indoors too 🤣

Allergies can be miserable, that’s true. Fortunately, you can still see and report the beauty. Thank you, Dr B.

There ain’t no fortunately! I cannot even go out now till April, but who cares? I’d be better off as a Yellowhammer!
