We live in a materialistic world, self obsessed, constantly craving more, often “living” inside a fake reality of social media, computer games, television. Chapter 5 of the Dhammapada describes a wise person as someone who rejects all this having recognised it as a source of an unsatisfactory life.
The wise follow the Buddha’s teaching,
They see the teaching as a path for happiness,
They discipline themselves as moral beings,
They practise mindfulness and loving kindness,
The wise see the reality of suffering, impermanence and no-self.
