Postcard from Alsace: More than a wine region!

Alsace is a region of France situated on the German border with place names and wine/grape names that sound very Germanic …. Gewurtztraminer, Turckheim, Riquewhir, Kaysersberg …. but Alsace has NEVER been part of Germany, though it has been occupied during times of war or political seizure. It is a region with fantastic food and wine, many restaurants recognised with Michelin Stars, and also with wonderful architecture so well preserved from medieval times. But more in the next few days as I tackle the next 1-3 wines on my Wines 101 Bucket List and my wife, daughter and son in law explore things NOT related to grapes.
