WordPress Photo Challenge: The Thames As Tour Guide

Living in the Cotswolds can be a blessing and a nightmare, the latter being mostly caused by summer traffic through our tiny villages and over ancient bridges. But there are many positives too; surrounded by historic medieval churches, Neolithic stone circles, ancient footpaths, Roman villas and ruins, and the old River Thames that runs through our village. Originally an artery for the salt and wool trades it is now a “motorway” for houseboats, barges, motor launches, kayaks, ducks, swans, geese, moorhens and coots. Surrounded by footpaths, picnic areas, meadows and bridleways, with a pub on its banks at either end of the village and an “official” signposted walking route meandering from its source a few miles away to the Thames Barrier in London. The Thames is your guide for all this!

  1. Looks like an idyllic place to live with all that history so close by and that lovely old river. I have always thought it would be fun to travel by boat down the Thames.
