We’re only few hours away now from our ship setting sail on another Mediterranean cruise, no cooking, washing up or making the beds for quite some time! Instead, people to meet, ancient civilisations to explore, different foods and wines and lots of musical and theatrical entertainment from a great big Hotel that “moves” from Spain, to Malta, Italy and France.
Time for a change, the discarding of Brexit, fake news, thought-police, ridiculous tales of knee touching and innuendo, and certainly no blogging about any of these things unless we encounter them in Cadiz, Valletta, Catania, Cagliari, Toulon, Valencia ………..
In my Little Book of Mindful Travel I came across this piece of advice on p18 and it seemed most apt:
“We all carry around so much mental baggage – from essential data to stored memories and anticipated hopes and objectives. It’s hardly surprising that there is so much stress in our frantic to-ing and fro-ing. A journey, any journey, offers a good opportunity to clear the mind. Pack an imaginary case and put in it only the essential data, memories, and immediate goals that you can reasonably cope with. Lighten the load on a daily basis. Think of the mind as having only hand baggage and stowed baggage. On an everyday basis carry only what you need. The rest can be accessed when needed”
Or as Jerome K Jerome would say, “Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need.”

Travel light, but come back with a load more luggage of experiences and fun memories between you! Can’t wait to hear the stories. Hoping you made it through the safety briefing in the “mustard” station!! 🤣😂

Very nice. The farther we get from home, the closer we get to the truth.

I am a ‘hand luggage only’ crusader. I have a friend who likes cruising and takes two sets of clothes, one a size bigger for the last few days!

Enjoy your cruise. We have done one similar and loved it! Ready to go again with only what we need.
