Dungeness is not only a Site of Special Scientific Interest, according to the UK Met Office it is also recognised as a desert, how bizarre is that? Flat as a pancake, shingle for miles, nuclear power stations, abandoned huts, boats and railway lines, all under the most amazing light and jutting out into the English Channel towards Europe. Painters and photographers love this place, as do twitchers, bikers, cyclists and afficionados of good old English grub, especially Fish n Chips with not a pizza, croissant or panini in sight at the Pilot Inn thank goodness!
